Bristol AC Ace 'MSV 512'

This history rich, regular Le Mans classic attendee had, over the years of historic racing,  collected a large amount of surface hazing and micro scratches that was now robbing the car of both gloss and overall colour clarity. The owner had contacted us for advice and from experience of working on classic and luxury sports cars, we were able to offer a treatment that would restore the overall appearance of the finish without removing the patina the car had collected over time. This is a very important factor to consider when working on such cherished vehicles and something we have perfected over time using correct techniques and materials. To achieve the finish we required the car received a two stage machine polish using fine and ultra fine finishing polishes followed by protection using the range of Swissvax non synthetic, natural car care products. We would like to thank the owner Alex for entrusting Perfect Car Care to work on such an amazing piece of history and look forward to working for him again.

Known history

This car was delivered new to Rhodesia in December 1958 and in the hands of Eric Glasby was raced with great success. It remained in South Africa until 1984 when it was re-imported. In the hands of Adrian Hall the car was further race prepared and campaigned by him for a number of years. The car went to the USA in the late eighties in the care of gentleman racing enthusiast Bill Binnie and he kept the car until offering it for sale with Hall & Bradfield in 2003. Instead of selling it the company directors bought the car and proceeded to compete with it themselves. Race preparation was undertaken by expert engineers at Blakeney Motorsport with a cavalier disregard for expense and this allowed successful participation in the Tour Auto, Goodwood, Le Mans and a great many other events. Only the purchase of a Frazer Nash Le Mans Rep and the consequent phone calls from the bank provoked the sale of the Ace and it was reluctantly sold to Jonathan Turner in 2007 who enjoyed numerous successes with it. He in turn parted with it 2009 and the current owner has continued with the car’s illustrious competition history with the car maintained and prepared without financial restraint by the highly regarded Stanton Motorsports.
